The first day of school at Wright City R-II went smoothly, with students and teachers returning to classrooms with spirit and enthusiasm, school officials said.“Things could not have gone any smoother,” said R-II Assistant Superintendent David Buck, Ed.D. “We have a lot of great things to look forward to and celebrate this year. I think we’re all glad to be back.”Buck said the first grade has the biggest class this year at a record-setting 141 students.Buck said teachers had a good week of training last week, with outside trainers coming in to help faculty prepare for the year ahead. One thing Buck and other leaders are excited about is a growing emphasis on technology as a supplement to classroom instruction. Buck said the school hopes to implement one-to-one technology in the classroom in a few years, allowing every student to have an Internet-enabled device. Just before the start of school the district completed an independent audit of its technology environment that showed the high school is well equipped for an all-student wireless setting.
