As the 2026-27 school year marks a new chapter for the Wright City School District, Superintendent Dr. Amy Salvo last week announced the district’s theme for the school year.
This year, #TeamWC will expand on last school year’s #TogetherWeCan motto.
“Last year, our community — students, parents, educators, staff and so many others — came together and showed the world what is possible when we work as one,” Salvo said in a district release. “Together, we demonstrated that #TogetherWeCan make a difference for #EveryStudentEveryDay in Wright City Schools.”
A new school year brings new opportunities and a chance to build on previous successes, Salvo added.
That’s where the idea for #TeamWC was born.
“I could not be more proud of the incredible academic growth happening in our classrooms, and I love having the opportunity to share the amazing things happening across our schools as #TeamWC,” Salvo said. “These successes belong to all of us.
“Because the truth is, we are all on the same team,” Salvo continued. “And just like any great team, success requires everyone to be willing to step up, carry the ball, make the assist and do whatever it takes to move us forward. Every parent, student, educator, staff member and caring person in a student's life has an important role to play — and every role matters.”
New Wright City Athletics Director Tyler Rickard said he’s excited to see just how the embodiment of #TeamWC will take shape.
While he is quite familiar with the team concept, having coached within the district before moving into administration, Rickard said the support system, or “team” concept, emblematic of athletics will be an exciting part of daily life throughout the district.
“This year’s #TeamWC theme really resonates with us in athletics, because it represents what we strive to build every day — a culture where we support one another, compete together, and put the team first,” Rickard said. “But what makes it even more meaningful is seeing how deeply that same message resonates with our student-athletes. They understand that being part of #TeamWC is about more than what happens on the field or court; it’s about belonging to something bigger than themselves and lifting each other up along the way.”
With school starting this past Monday, Salvo added that teamwork will be essential to each student's success throughout the year.
“As we begin another school year, let's keep showing up for one another, celebrating our successes, supporting our students and remembering that when we work together, there is no limit to what #TeamWC can accomplish,” she said. “Welcome back, Team WC. Let's make it another great year for #EveryStudentEveryDay.”
