The Wright City R-II Board of Education received an update on the East Elementary Phase 2 construction project during its May 15 meeting. This project includes an additional four-room classroom addition.
According to Hankins Construction, the masonry walls are now complete and crews are beginning to demobilize certains areas of the site.
Rough plumbing and electrical work are ongoing and nearing completion. Additionally, the installation of steel joists and roof decking is scheduled to begin on May 20. The next step will be applying a weather barrier to the masonry walls.
Board President Austin Jones asked about potential supply chain issues related to electrical materials. However, Hankins said there have not been any issues and there have been no material delays.
Hankins did note a complication involving the cores for the locks, adding there were machinery issues at the manufacturing plant. However, the plant is in the process of fixing it, and Hankins is receiving direct updates. Despite this issue, it has not resulted in any material delays.
In addition, Hankins added they are hoping to receive the exterior brick for the building earlier than expected in order to tidy up any minor details after the brick is completed. Currently, the brick is scheduled to arrive the first week of July.
Phase 2 of the East Elementary expansion is expected to be completed on Aug. 2.
