Wright City has made another step toward its promise of a new city hall.Wright City officials have selected an architectural and engineering team, Cochran Engineering and JEMA, to plan and design the new city hall, police station and park area.Cochran’s portfolio includes East Central College in Union, the Franklin County government and judicial centers in Union and the Mercy Medical Building South in Washington. The team will create a design and engineering plan to transform the former St. Charles Assembly of God Church into the new city hall. The city purchased the property at 636 Westwoods Road for $320,000. It has a 10,000-square-foot building on 4 1/2 acres. The new city hall will have meeting spaces, offices and be able to service municipal court hearings.Design and engineering plans also will include a park with two ball fields and a playground on the property. The existing city hall at 203 Veterans Memorial Parkway will be redesigned by this team and renovated to provide a larger and more efficient work space for the police department. The property purchase and renovations are being paid for with revenue from a $1.5 million bond issue that voters passed to alleviate crowding in city buildings and provide more park spaces.Officials said the property will allow for future growth and expansion.Wright City
