The Wright City football team made a big statement in their 42-0 win over Duchesne. After tonight, the Wildcats will move onto the Class 3, District 3 semi-final game.
In the first quarter, Duan McRoberts ran for a 23-yard touchdown and Kaleb McCory added on an extra point. McRoberts ran for another touchdown, this time for 40-yards, to put the Wildcats up 14-0.
In the second quarter, McRoberts threw a deep pass to Lavarious Green for 43-yard touchdown. Five minutes later, McRoberts ran for a 70-yard touchdown and Wright City ended halftime with a dominant 28-0 lead.
Starting the second half, the Wildcats’ defense continued to put pressure on Duchesne. Benji Rodriguez and Jakob Popp both intercepted passes and Wright City recovered two fumbles.
On the offensive side, Kayden Allison caught a 31-yard pass from Dayton Humphreys for another touchdown. Lastly, with less than two minutes on the clock, freshman Kayden McCurdy scored a touchdown on a 25-yard run.
After tonight’s shutout win, Wright City will move on to the semi-final game and play at home against Moberly on Nov. 8.
