A Wright City man who allegedly watched female residents in his neighborhood and broke into several homes while residents were away is facing multiple felony charges following his arrest Wednesday. Michael P. Stout, 19, is facing four felony counts of second-degree burglary, one count of felony stealing, three misdemeanor counts of stealing and one count of misdemeanor second-degree property damage. A cash-only bond of $100,000 was set in the case, according to Sheriff Kevin Harrison. Deputies responded to a report of a home invasion in progress at a house in the 11000 block of Cedar Tree Lane about 10:15 a.m. Wednesday, Harrison stated. A 16-year-old female who lives at the home reportedly came home sick from school. After entering the house, the girl heard noises coming from the bathroom and realized an unknown person was inside the home. The suspect, who was later identified as Stout, fled the home and ran through the woods, Harrison said. Deputies, detectives and a K-9 unit with the sheriff’s department responded and initiated a search for the suspect. About 11:30 a.m., Stout was taken into custody at his home down the street from the home he allegedly burglarized earlier. Further investigation by the sheriff’s department revealed that Stout allegedly had been watching female residents in the neighborhood. Over the past month, Stout allegedly broke into four homes while residents were away and took items such as women’s underwear, clothing, sex toys, food, an iPod, a laptop computer and photographs. Authorities located and seized 59 pairs of ladies panties, two sex toys, photographs, assorted pieces of women’s clothing and a plastic bag containing numerous used feminine hygiene products from Stout’s bedroom, Harrison stated.
