A Wright City man who trained and sold pit bull dogs to fight will spend four months in prison under terms of a sentence handed down July 9 in Warren County Circuit Court.Victor Schone, 34, was sentenced to nine years in prison on three felony counts of dog fighting.Schone will enter the prison’s “shock incarceration” program and be eligible for early release and placement on probation after completing the program, Warren County Prosecutor Michael Wright said.Schone’s involvement in dog fighting was revealed during a special investigation in 2008 by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the FBI and Department of Agriculture agents.During the investigation, Schone offered to sell a youngpit bull he had trained to one of the undercover police officers for $500. At that time, Schone had about a dozen dogs on his property in the 14000 block of Laura Lane.During a dog fight in July 2008, at a residence on Quarry Road south of Warrenton, officers saw Schone assemble and disassemble the dog-fighting pit.Schone also pleaded guilty to resisting arrest and was sentenced to three years in prison. That sentence will run consecutively with the nine-year sentence Schone received in the dog fighting case.Schone fled from Wright City officers when they tried to arrest him Aug. 21, 2011, on the outstanding warrants for dog fighting. Schone broke free of officers and ran into a wooded area.
