A man from Wright City was hurt in an early morning crash Monday, Nov. 26, after his vehicle made contact with a tractor-trailer on Interstate 70 in St. Charles.Mark A. Oakes, 42, was taken to SSM Health St. Joseph Hospital in St. Charles with moderate injuries, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol. A preliminary crash report states Oakes was not wearing a seat belt.Oakes was driving a 1999 Lexus ES300 eastbound on I-70 near the St. Charles Convention Center around 5:20 a.m., according to the report. The Lexus moved into the lane of a tractor-trailer traveling the same direction and struck the side of the trailer. Oakes’ vehicle then drove off the left side of the road and hit the concrete median.The driver of the tractor-trailer did not stop and continued eastbound on I-70, the patrol said. That driver's identity is unknown at this time.The Lexus was totaled in the crash.Crash
