A Wright City man was charged with resisting arrest by fleeing following an incident Oct. 23.
According to a probable cause affidavit filed by the Wright City Police Department, an officer observed a white Dodge Ram fail to stop at the stop sign at Westwoods and Bell Road. The officer activated his lights and siren, but the vehicle failed to yield and accelerated to speeds exceeding 70 miles per hour in a 40-mph zone.
The vehicle later crashed into a utility pole near 806 Bell Road. The driver, Shane Kiely was located nearby and taken into custody. Kiely was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated and later provided a breath sample that showed a reading of .23, according to the affidavit.
