A Wright City man has been charged with sexually assaulting a woman in the basement of his home during the early morning of Sept. 29.
Alex Ransom, of the 29000 block of Marlin Drive, faces two felony counts of rape and sodomy. Charges were filed Oct. 2, and an arrest warrant was issued the following day. No bond has been set, according to court records.
In a probable cause statement, Warren County Detective Dean Jackson said the victim reported that Ransom pinned her against a pool table and assaulted her. She told investigators she resisted verbally and physically as Ransom forcibly removed her clothing. He allegedly covered her mouth to stifle her screams and held her hands down during the assault.
The woman eventually escaped but left behind her underwear and prescription glasses. Investigators later found the underwear in Ransom’s basement while executing a search warrant.
According to court documents, investigators also reviewed a phone call between Ransom and a friend of the victim in which Ransom was accused of rape. During that call, he allegedly responded, “I would do it again.” The comment was confirmed by three separate independent sources, the detective said.
