A Wright City man is facing felony charges after allegedly beating a woman with a tire iron and pouring “an unknown substance” into her eyes in an attempt to blind her.

Michael A. Collier was charged Friday, Aug. 28, with armed criminal action and second-degree domestic assault in connection with events the previous day. Shortly after 6 p.m. Thursday. Aug. 27, Warren County sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a domestic assault.

During an argument earlier in the day, Collier allegedly chased the victim and struck her with a tire iron, causing bruising. Later, she had been sleeping when he allegedly “had woken her up by yelling and then poured an unknown substance” into her eyes, according to a probable cause statement, “causing discomfort and pain.”

Multiple witnesses corroborated the woman’s version of events, with one saying Collier chased the woman with a spray bottle, spraying a substance into her eyes and “trying to blind her,” according to the statement.

Collier, born in 1984, has multiple past convictions for domestic assault. He is being held without bond at the Warren County Jail.
