A Wright City man is facing a felony charge after allegedly driving erratically at high speeds, almost hitting pedestrians, while punching a woman in the face multiple times and refusing to let her out of his vehicle.
Lavarious J. Green was charged Wednesday, Aug. 26, with second-degree domestic assault in connection with events the previous day.
Green allegedly got into an argument with the woman, who he had been in a relationship with, when she got into his vehicle to talk about their relationship in the area of the intersection of Westwoods Drive and Spring Hill Circle.
Once in the vehicle, Green “became irate,” according to police, and began driving recklessly at high speeds “through various neighborhoods in the area nearly hitting multiple pedestrians and refusing to slow the vehicle so she could exit, despite repeated requests to do so.”
The victim “stated Lavarious exchanged multiple blows with her while operating the vehicle and struck her several times with a closed fist in the face and shoulder area,” according to a probable cause statement.
Green eventually returned to Westwoods Drive and Spring Hill Circle, where the woman began to get out of the vehicle as several of her friends attempted to help her. Green then allegedly grabbed onto her purse and shirt and began to drive off, however, as the woman tried to get out of the vehicle while keeping her purse.
Green then purposely accelerated, causing the woman to be ejected from the vehicle onto the pavement, resulting in multiple non-life-threatening injuries, according to the probable cause statement. Several people witnessed the assault and provided police with corroborating statements consistent with the woman’s account of events.
Warrenton police located Green a short time later and arrested him. After waiving his Miranda rights, he made various conflicting statements, according to police.
Green allegedly said “he did not strike” the woman at any time “but had exchanged blows with her.” He admitted he had shoved the woman from the vehicle “and then fled the area in self defense.” Green claimed he did not hear the woman ask to get out of the vehicle, according to the probable cause statement, “but admitted she had told him to slow down.”
Green, born in 2007, is being held without bond at the Warren County Jail.
