The Wright City football team lost a 26-6 decision to nonconference foe Cuba during Homecoming on Friday. The Wildcats were without head coach James Weir, who is suspended pending an investigation. Assistant coach Matt Brooks stepped in as interim coach on Friday. Wright City struggled to maintain possession of the ball, giving up three crucial fumbles in the first half. Trailing 14-6 with 22 seconds left in the half, the Wildcats fumbled a snap deep in their own territory and gave up another touchdown. Cuba led 20-6 at the break. Wright City's lone touchdown was on a three-yard run by senior quarterback Jared Schmidt with 4:09 remaining in the first half. The Wildcats fell to 1-6 on the season and will travel to Orchard Farm for their district opener next Friday.
