Wright City Gears Up for Road Trip

Where: Bowling Green High School. When: Friday, Sept. 27.Time: 7 p.m.Coaches: Wright City — Matt Brooks. Bowling Green — Jeff Gschwender.Records: Wright City — 1-3. Bowling Green — 4-0.Last Year’s Meeting: Wright City 26, Bowling Green 21.Bowling Green will be out for a vengeance after being upset and having a five-year winning streak snapped against the Wildcats. Wright City amassed 368 yards of total offense, nearly double its previous performances that season. Rico Blanks opened the game with a 50-yard touchdown run while quarterback Nick Hanff scored on a 76-yard option play. Blanks attacked on the edges, while Matt Dollard pounded the ball up the middle.Outlook: After several dominant years, Bowling Green dropped competitively and became vulnerable last season. But it appears the Bobcats may have regained their Mojo based upon this season’s high-scoring victories that have catapulted them to a perfect start. Bowling Green is averaging 50 points per game and has not scored less than 44. Its most recent victory was a 49-34 triumph over North Callaway.Chances are, Bowling Green has been looking forward to this contest.Wright City will need to be prepared defensively and match its performance from Week Four.Focal Points: Brooks expects Bowling Green to run the ball effectively, spreading the field and getting to the perimeter. Both the quarterback and a pair of running backs have put up considerable yardage this season. Brooks says it will be key to make secure tackles and limit the Bobcats from breaking big plays.Defensively, Bowling Green employs both 3- and 4-man fronts. Brooks expects a physical match-up against a team that has shown a solid ability to tackle well.

Wright City senior Ben Randolph has provided a receiving threat for the Wildcats this season.
