In a Class 3 District 5 championship game that saw seven turnovers, Centralia managed to pull away from Wright City 43-12.The Wildcats finished the season 8-4. This was their first district championship appearance since 2010.Controlling the line of scrimmage, the host Panthers powered their way down field on the heels of a persistent running game, going ahead 15-0 with 9:08 left in the first quarter.Senior Kyle Tuepker sparked life into Wright City, returning the ensuing kickoff to the end zone.The Wildcats trailed 22-12 into the second quarter after senior quarterback Andrew Pfuhl connected with senior Troy Muse on a deep touchdown pass. Wright City was forced to throw the ball after being denied on the ground.Centralia scored on two more long plays before half, moving ahead 36-12.Wright City held its hosts scoreless until the 3:38 mark of the fourth quarter but couldn't sustain on offense.For more on the game, see the Nov. 12 issue of The Record.Wright City
