The Wright City Community Food Pantry will provide lunches for children and teens over the summer, and is looking for volunteers and donations to help with the program. The Summer Lunch Program will provide meals to school-age children in the Wright City North, Brookview and Northridge apartment complexes and the surrounding areas.Lunches will be provided at the Wright City North Apartment grounds Monday through Friday, 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., between July 2 and Aug. 8. This is the time children do not have access to lunches through the Wright City School District.Organizers estimate serving between 30 to 50 lunches a day. Lunch will consist of a sandwich, bag of chips, piece of fruit and a bottle of water. The food pantry is seeking donations to fund the lunch program, and volunteers to help prepare and serve the food. The pantry is a registered 501(c)(3) charitable organization located on the property of Wright City Church of the Nazarene.Interested volunteers or donors can email Pastor Joe Purl at joeandkimpurl@gmail.com.Purl said the food pantry also is seeking two volunteers to help run its broader services throughout the year. An operations director and client representative are needed to fulfill key roles. The operations director will coordinate other volunteers, and will be in charge of the pantry’s stock and regular operations. The client representative will meet food pantry clients, verify their information and assess their needs, and maintain client records. Both positions require the compassion to work with the people of Wright City, Purl said. Local residents are preferred for the jobs, but that isn't a requirement, he added.Food pantry
