A Wright City couple have been arrested on felony charges for allegedly assaulting a woman with pepper spray and a police baton.
Jennifer Brooks and Lydale White were taken into custody Monday, Oct. 5, according to online court records. White was charged Oct. 1 with third-degree assault, and Brooks was charged the previous day with armed criminal action and second-degree assault, in connection with the July incident.
On July 25, Brooks and White allegedly assaulted Brooks’ cousin’s girlfriend, with Brooks “using pepper spray and a silver-colored collapsible police baton,” and White using his fists, according to a probable cause statement.
Following the assault, the victim had injuries requiring medical treatment, which were consistent with being beaten with a police baton, according to the statement.
On Sept. 2, Brooks was pulled over at the intersection of Horseshoe Court and Roelker Road. In talking with Wright City police, she told them that she attacked her cousin’s girlfriend because the woman previously assaulted Brooks’ mother, according to another probable cause statement.
Brooks and White, born in 2004 and 1989 respectively, are being held at the Warren County Jail, with their bonds set at $20,000 each, cash only.
