The Wright City Board of Aldermen approved seeking a grant for the city that will allow extra traffic patrols May 5-16.Police Chief Matt Eskew said the city applies for the grant yearly. He said it provides $800 in overtime pay at no cost to the city. The grant will allow an additional officer to patrol the city. Eskew said the officer’s primary function will be a traffic unit. The officer will be focused on Wright City, Eskew said. He said he didn’t see the value to have the officer monitoring Interstate 70.“I have issues in town that need handling,” he said. Alderman Tom Dixon supported the in-town approach. He said Wright City didn’t need to get a reputation as a speed trap. The board unanimously backed the grant.Wright City Police Department
