Wright City jumped out to an early lead and withstood a push from Montgomery County in their 10-4 conference win Saturday.
Wright City (10-6, 7-2 EMO) beat Montgomery County Saturday in their first of two games of the day. Wright City was scheduled to play St. Charles in a non-conference matchup later in the day.
Wright City's first seven batters all reached base in the first inning. Wright City scored five runs in the inning to take an early 5-0 lead.
After Montgomery County scored four runs in the third inning, Wright City responded with one run in the third inning and two runs in the fourth and fifth innings.
Trey Brakensiek pitched the first four innings for Wright City. Hayden Waters threw three shutout innings to close out the win for Wright City.
