Record Managing EditorWright City aldermen unanimously approved a resolution supporting transportation improvements in the state without imposing a toll on Interstate 70.The vote, made at the last board meeting July 9, endorses funding alternatives that have been proposed by the Greater Warren County Economic Development Council. Some of the ideas that have been recommended include increasing the state and federal fuel tax, seek a sales tax dedicated to transportation, assess a user fee based on miles driven, and increasing vehicle registration and license fees. The resolution states Wright City finds that the level of funding currently available to the state is insufficient and inconsistent with the maintenance of a 21st century transportation system. In addition, a combination of funding alternatives would better provide for immediate and future transportation needs in the state.Warrenton and the Wright City Area Chamber of Commerce have passed similar resolutions.Payment agreement applications to be limitedOnly two payment agreement applications in a calendar year will be allowed in Wright City beginning this month.Aldermen voted 4-0 to enact the new policy at their July 9 meeting. Each utility billing customer will be allowed two applications per calendar year, the policy states. For the remainder of 2015, two applications will be permitted, even if a customer has already hit that mark.Wright City
