A woman accused of having sexual contact with two children pleaded guilty this month to two felony charges and was sentenced to seven years in prison.
Kelly McGee-Walters, 47, Warrenton, submitted guilty pleas Oct. 11 to two counts of sexual misconduct involving a child under 15, a class E felony, according to court records. The charges arose from an alleged 2012 incident involving children who were 11 and 9 years old at the time.
Associate Circuit Judge Linda Hamlett sentenced McGee-Walters to four years in prison for the first sexual misconduct charge and three years for the second. The terms will be served consecutively for a total of seven years, with credit for the time she has already spent in jail.
Warrenton police began an investigation into McGee-Walters in June 2017, after receiving information from the Missouri Division of Family Services about a December 2012 incident.
Court documents state police interviewed the two victims, who reported that McGee-Walters had coerced them into sexual contact at a home on Southside Avenue in Warrenton. One of the girls, who was 11 at the time, told police McGee-Walters had touched her breasts while she objected. The girl also alleged that McGee-Walters had taken her and a younger girl into a bathroom and made them touch McGee-Walters inappropriately.
One of the victims recalled McGee-Walters telling them not to tell a parent about the contact.
During an interview with police, McGee-Walters allegedly admitted to touching one of the girls inappropriately, taking both girls into the bathroom and having one of them touch her inappropriately while her clothing was partially removed.
McGee-Walters originally had been charged with two counts of first-degree child molestation, but pleaded guilty to the lesser charges.
After the initial case was opened against McGee-Walters, prosecutors also filed charges for misdemeanor sex crimes that police investigated in the later half of 2018. McGee-Walters also pleaded guilty to those charges Oct. 11.
A charge of furnishing pornographic material to a minor was filed after McGee-Walters allegedly sent an inappropriate message to a 15-year-old girl on Aug. 9, 2018. The message allegedly contained a video of two characters from the Disney movie “Toy Story,” which suddenly switched to video of a naked man touching his genitalia. Police said McGee-Walters admitted to sending the message.
Another charge, second-degree sexual abuse, stems from an incident reported on Dec. 4, 2018. An adult woman told police that several days earlier, McGee-Walters had wrapped her arms around the woman from behind and pressed on her breasts, allegedly stating “nice breasts.” McGee-Walters at the time denied that accusation, according to police.
Judge Hamlett sentenced McGee-Walters to one year for both charges, to be served concurrently with the seven year sentence. In effect, she will not serve any additional time for the convictions.
