A Washington woman told police she didn’t think her ex-husband would miss the money after she allegedly stole his checkbook and used it in Warren County.Carla Beaver, 40, is facing multiple felony charges in both Warren and Franklin counties after she allegedly broke into her ex-husband’s house, stole a checkbook and forged six checks.Beaver was charged Feb. 3 in Franklin County Associate Circuit Court with one felony count of burglary and a misdemeanor charge of theft/stealing for property less than $500. She was charged Dec. 30, 2016, with six counts of felony forgery in Warren County. Police said Beaver’s ex-husband noticed his checkbook was missing early last July. The man told police his son had given him $100 in cash July 3 and another $100 on July 4.The man told police he noticed the cash was missing on July 8. He originally thought his dog may have eaten the money or his son was playing a joke, but later discovered a book of checks also was missing.The man discovered four checks were written at S & R Convenience Center in Marthasville. He told the bank, the Bank of Washington, that he didn’t write the checks.Police said the man told them he suspected Carla Beaver had taken the checkbook. He said the couple had been divorced for more than a year and she was the only person who knew where to find the checkbook.On July 15, the man discovered two more checks were written at S & R Convenience Center. Clerks at the S & R told police Carla Beaver was a regular customer and she had written the six checks.Washington and Marthasville police later interviewed Beaver. Police said she admitted she entered her ex-husband unlocked home and took the checks.Beaver told police she was unemployed and knew her ex-husband’s had money and she didn’t. She said she didn’t think he would mind if she took some money.The police reported Beaver said she used the checks to get gas, groceries, soda and cash. The six checks totaled more than $500.A warrant was issued Monday, Feb. 6, with a $10,000 bond.Charges
