Police have arrested a Warrenton man after a report that he assaulted a woman while she was trying to leave with her child.Devin A. Wagner, 22, Warrenton, is charged with second-degree domestic assault, a Class D felony. He is being held at the Warren County Jail in lieu of a $10,000 bond.The victim contacted Warrenton police around 9:50 a.m. May 20 to report the assault that allegedly happened earlier that morning, according to authorities.The woman and Wagner had been in an argument that became physical when Wagner grabbed her by the throat, she told police. She described that she had begun to see black spots.Wagner allegedly threw the victim to the ground and punched her arm.The victim recounted saying that she was going to call the police, and then took her child and attempted to leave the residence.At the mention of calling police, Wagner allegedly choked the victim again while she was still holding her child. She kicked Wagner and fled with her child to a vehicle, where police state Wagner pulled her hair and hit her in the head.Police spoke to Wagner, who reportedly stated that he had pushed the woman because she was “in his face.”The police report notes that the victim had red marks on her neck, stomach and arm.Wagner was arrested May 22 and is being held at the Warren County Jail in lieu of a $10,000 bond. He has an arraignment scheduled for June 6 in Warren County Circuit Court.
