Woman admits to supplying drugs in fatal overdose

Record Managing EditorA Warrenton woman has admitted to supplying drugs that led to a fatal overdose in November and will be sentenced in August.Brigit L. Kleen, 35, of the 700 block of E. Booneslick, pleaded guilty to felony distribution of a controlled substance during a court appearance last Thursday, June 4. She had previously entered a not guilty plea.Kleen will be sentenced Aug. 11.Police said Kleen supplied Xanax and another drug identified as “roxy” to 17-year-old Jordan Lunsford at a home in the 100 block of Oak Street in Warrenton on Nov. 13. Lunsford died two days later at St. Joseph Hospital West in Lake Saint Louis.Kleen was charged Jan. 2 for her role in the teen’s death.According to the probable cause statement, Kleen was with Lunsford for most of the day on Nov. 13 and she admitted to police that she provided Xanax to him. A witness at the home watched Kleen sell six to seven Xanax to the teen for $10.On Nov. 17, police executed a search warrant at the Oak Street home and arrested two men. Authorities reported they found heroin, crack cocaine and marijuana on the suspects, identified as 24-year-old Mario Wilkes and 27-year-old Anthony J. Price.Drug-related charges are pending against both men. Lunsford’s death was the first of three fatal drug overdoses that occurred in the county over a three-month period and has led to the formation of a group comprised of professional and community members called Warren County Alcohol and Drug Reduction Support coalition, or W.A.R.S, to help reduce substance abuse.Brigit Kleen
