Record Managing Editor A Warrenton woman is accused of attempting to light her house on fire following an argument with a family member Monday night. Warrenton police reported Stacey Clark, 43, poured gasoline inside the front door of her home in the 1000 block of Barberry Court and attempted to ignite it with a lighter. The attempt was thwarted, however, when an 11-year-old boy in the home wrestled the lighter away from her, according to a probable cause statement. Clark was taken into custody and charged with one felony count for attempted arson. She is being held in the Warren County Jail in lieu of a $10,000 bond. Police said Clark had gotten into a verbal argument with an adult male. The man left the residence and went to a neighbor’s house. A short time later, Clark threw a birdcage into the front yard. She then grabbed a 5-gallon container filled with gasoline and began pouring it inside the front door of her home, according to the probable cause statement. The boy forced entry through the rear door and observed Clark attempting to ignite the gasoline with a lighter, according to police. Clark continued her attempt to get the fire started until the boy was able to wrestle the lighter away, the probable cause statement shows.
