A message from Guy Gevers, Warrenton Public Works Director...With the forecast calling for the potential of ice and significant snowfall, I would like to remind everyone that vehicles must be moved from along all designated snow routes in order for snow plows to clear the streets. Any remaining vehicles will be towed in order to adequately clear the streets. Moving vehicles from along the curb on other streets will allow for greater ability to clear those streets as well. With significant snowfall, streets other than snow routes will be cleared only to the extent necessary to keep them open for emergency vehicles. Once the snow fall subsides, then further clearing of all streets will begin.Significant snowfall results in mountains of snow being pushed to the curb. These snow mountains are encouraging to children who want to build caves within them. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION SINCE THE SNOW CAN CAVE IN CAUSING SERIOUS INJURY TO CHILDREN. Aside from cave ins, children playing in these situations may not be seen by the snow plow crews when pushing additional snow.PARENTS PLEASE DO NOT ALLOW CHILDREN TO PLAY ON OR AROUND THESE PILES OF SNOW.Following is the latest winter weather advisory:Statement as of 3:56 PM CST on Feb. 28, 2014... Those in the watch area should begin preparing in case the storm does materialize. If you have travel planned... you may want to adjust your travel time to avoid the storm. Also you should use this advanced notice to make certain your vehicle is winterized. Make preparations at home by stocking emergency supplies, such as food, medicine and extra heating fuel, just in case the storm makes travel impossible. This is especially important for those living in rural areas.Winter weather predicted for Saturday, Sunday
