A Winfield man was charged with rape or attempted rape in the first degree for an incident that occurred Dec. 10, 2019.
According to a probable cause statement filed by the Wright City Police Department, officers were notified on Dec. 12, 2019 of a sexual assault that occurred on Dec. 10, 2019. The 14-year-old victim was transported to an area hospital where a SAFE kit was collected.
According to the affidavit on Dec. 17 an interview was conducted and the victim said she and Cody Alexander Eck of Winfield were in the backseat of a car when Eck sexually assaulted her without her consent.
On July 16, 2020, Eck said he had consensual sex with the victim, according to the affidavit.
On Oct. 30, 2025, results were received from the SAFE kit and indicated the presence of male DNA and advised a comparison sample would be needed for further testing, according to the affidavit.
According to the affidavit, on Nov. 18, 2025 officers interviewed another female who said she was sexually assaulted by Eck approximately one week prior to the Dec. 12 sexual assault. Further investigation revealed the incident was documented by the Warren County Sheriff’s Department.
Eck was charged with rape or attempted rape in the first degree and sodomy or attempted sodomy in the first degree. A no bond warrant was issued for Eck’s arrest Dec. 15.
