Mr. William "Bill" Woodrow Denson, of Wright City, MO, passed away on Sunday, January 23, 2022. He was born on June 11, 1947, in Poplar Bluff, MO, to the late Felix and Willie (nee: Barwick) Denson. Bill had reached the age of 74 years.
After high school, Bill served our country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was very proud of his time spent with the Army and of being a Veteran. While in service, he earned a Purple Heart Medal along with several others. Upon returning from the war, Bill became a firefighter. He started his career with the Chesterfield Fire Department in 1971, which became the Monarch Department. He retired after 25+ years of service. He was united in marriage to Karen Marie Schuette on August 17, 1985, in Troy, MO. They celebrated 36 wonderful years together. Bill enjoyed fishing, especially for catfish. He was an avid Cardinal Baseball fan and enjoyed cars and motorcycles. Bill had a 1968 GTO convertible and a Harley Davidson trike. Bill was also a gun collector and was known to have a great shot. He loved his two dogs, a Shih Tzu named Teddy Bear, and a Lhasa Apso named Bella. Bill was a devoted husband, father, grandpa, brother, and friend.
Bill Denson was preceded in death by his parents, Felix and Willie; one son-in-law, Bryan Riddick; two brothers, Ronnie Denson and Jimmie Denson. Those family members who are grateful for having shared in Bill's life are his loving wife, Karen; four children, Rebecca Riddick, William Denson Jr. and wife Karen, Joshua Denson, Matthew Denson and Ashley Strini; one grandchild, Dylan Denson; three sisters, Jeanie Wright, Dottie LaBorde, Angie Shults and husband Jeff; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.
A Celebration of Bill's Life will be held on Saturday, February 5, 2022, 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM at Martin Funeral Home in Warrenton. Funeral services will also be held on Saturday, February 5, 2022 beginning at 12:00 PM. Full military honors will be presented at the funeral home following the service.
