The Wright City softball team has been relying on its offense as it has scored double-digit runs in its past three games.
All three contests were wins for the Wildcats, who started the season with four losses.
The Wildcats plated five runs in the second inning and cruised to a 13-0 win over Louisiana Tuesday night.
The Wildcats pounded out 18 hits. Kendall Hannah and Abby Raines each had three hits and three RBIs in the win.
Last Thursday, Tristen Head had two doubles and five RBIs taking Wright City to a 13-2 win over Montgomery County.
The day before, six players had at least two hits in a 13-2 triumph over St. Clair. Raines had a team-high three hits as the Wildcats erupted for seven runs in the fifth inning.
Madison Hamlett recorded all three wins on the mound.
Two shutouts for Warrenton: Warrenton has outscored its past two opponents 23-0. Kathryn McChristy struck out 16 in a two-hit complete-game victory Tuesday.
The offense was led by Avery Tucker who went 3 for 3 with one RBI. Hailey Roberts added two hits and two RBIs and Michele Higby also had two hits.
On Monday, the Warriors totaled 19 hits to back another shutout from McChristy. They plated 11 runs in the first inning and never looked back in the 15-0 win.
Kennady Estes went 4 for 4 with three runs and three RBIs. Kaylin Reynolds added four and three RBIs, respectively.
Volleyball
Wright City falls back to .500: The Wildcats fell in three sets to Orchard Farm (25-16, 21-25, 29-27) last Wednesday.
The loss dropped them to 2-2 overall. Reagan Charlesworth had nine assists in the loss.
Warrenton splits games: The Warriors defeated St. Charles West Monday and fell to St. Charles on Tuesday.
In Monday’s win, Morgan Frye had 22 kills and Josey Schipper added 13. Allie Gerrard and Abby Hammerberg had 26 and 20 assists, respectively.
Cross Country
Palmyra Invitational: Wright City’s Zoe Riggs placed second, only six seconds behind the winner in Saturday’s meet. She completed the race in 21:34.47.
In the boys race, Trent Bruning medaled with a fifth-place finish in 19:28.53.
Linn Invitational: The Warrenton girls placed 14th out of 16 schools in Saturday’s meet. Camryn Petersmeyer finished 27th in 23:26.29 to lead the Warriors.
Wyatt Claiborne had the fastest time in 19:12.85 for the boys team. He placed 23rd overall.
