Wildcats Remain Unbeaten in Conference

The Wright City baseball team relied on strong pitching again Tuesday to propel it to another win. Senior Austin Meine helped the Wildcats to a 10-0 victory over Clopton, as they improved to 4-0 in the Eastern Missouri Conference play. “He had control from the very first inning,” said Coach Dave Chapman. Meine gave up just two hits through six innings and has been stellar so far this season. “He’s gone 13 innings and given up four hits and no runs, along with a healthy dose of strikeouts in two conference games,” said Chapman. Freshman Donovan Mozee provided the power at the plate, unloading a two-run home run, going 3-for-3. “He really came alive tonight,” said Chapman. Meine was two for four with 2 RBIs. Senior Tyler Tuepker was one for three with an RBI. “We had production all the way up and down the lineup,” said Chapman. “We played well. Just like against Silex, we were very efficient.” The Wildcats won all three of their conference games over the past week. They defeated Van-Far 6-3 on Thursday. Mozee started on the mound, striking out 13 batters during his debut. “He sort of put us on his back during that game,” said Chapman. Meine went 3 for 4 at the plate. “We took good at bats and had several walks,” said Chapman. Wright City topped Bowling Green 4-2 last Wednesday, getting a solid seven innings from Tuepker. On Friday they dropped a 7-4 decision against Orchard Farm. “Other than one game, we’re playing very well,” said Chapman. “We’re minimizing our mistakes and not making key errors at the wrong time. We’re playing the kind of baseball these guys are capable of playing.”

Wright City senior Austin Meine tossed a 10-0 shutout against Clopton on Tuesday.
