Four Wright City Wildcats were named to the EMO conference first team.
Logan McCartney, Duan McRoberts, Nick Moore and Hayden Waters were named to the EMO first team. Seniors Kyle Johnson and Ian Wolff were named to the EMO second team.
“Obviously, it’s a big accomplishment with a 10-team conference,” Wright City baseball coach Ryan Raterman said. “Especially for us to have six guys on that list when we didn’t walk away with a title shows that we were right there and super talented and definitely were in the running. And without those guys, we wouldn’t have had the season that we were having.”
Waters was a unanimous selection as a first team outfielder for the second consecutive season.
Waters hit .410 and had a team-leading four home runs and .782 slugging percengage. Waters was second on the team with 24 RBIs.
McRoberts was named to the first team as a utility infielder. After starting the season in the bottom third of the lineup, McRoberts finished the season as the team’s leadoff hitter. McRoberts finished second on the team in batting average and on base percentage. He hit .425 with a .528 OBP.
“We took two out of the three first team all conference outfield spots. So that’s a pretty big deal,” Raterman said.
McCartney was named to the EMO conference first team as an infielder. McCartney was the team’s shortstop this season. He hit first and second in the lineup this season. He hit .420 on the season, third among all Wildcat batters. He led the team with 34 hits and 32 runs scored.
Nick Moore was named to the first team as a utility infielder. Moore finished the season with a .403 average. He was tied for third on the team with five doubles.
Johnson was the team’s first baseman. At the plate, Johnson was third on the team with a .608 slugging percentage. He finished second on the team with three home runs.
Wolff also earned second team conference honors. Wolff led the team with a .431 average and finished second on the team with a .686 slugging percentage. Wolff hit five doubles and two home runs on the season.
