Wildcats football closes out regular season with loss

Wright City closed the regular season on Friday with a 54-0 loss to North Callaway (8-1, 6-0 EMO) in Kingdom City. It was Wright City's first shutout loss since a 59-0 district loss to Lutheran North in 2020, but the Wildcats (6-3, 4-2 EMO) with their second six-win season in the last three seasons.
 
North Callaway ran for 209 yards while Wright City finished with 124 total yards. The Thunderbirds led 40-0 at halftime to maintain a running clock through the entire second half. Hank Jennings was Wright City's leading rusher with 37 yards on six carries, Dayton Humphreys threw for 60 yards on 8-for-19 passing. 
 
Wright City has the No. 4 seed in the Class 3 District 3 Tournament and will host Principia with Whitfield (4-4) next week.
