The Wright City football team beat Winfield on their home turf 44-28.
In the first quarter, Winfield scored a quick touchdown with eight minutes left to make the score 6-0. Duan McRoberts quickly responded to tie up the score 6-6. Extra point attempts for both teams were no good.
Less than three minutes later, McRoberts recorded another touchdown and Kaleb McCory tallied on the extra point. Winfield scored another touchdown late in the quarter and completed a two-point conversion. Winfield led 14-13 at the end of the quarter.
Towards the end of the second quarter, McRoberts was handed the ball and as he was running into the endzone, Winfield forced a fumble. However, Omar Ghannoum picked it up in the endzone for a touchdown.
The Wildcats led 19-14 going into halftime. After halftime, the Wildcats came back on the field and shut Winfield down.
Twelve seconds into the third quarter after Winfield kicked it off, Lavarious Green caught the ball and returned it all the way for a touchdown, making the score 25-14.
With less than nine minutes left, Quinn Schnarre tacked on another touchdown for the Wildcats.
At the four minute mark, Winfield recorded another touchdown, but their two point conversion attempt was no good.
McRoberts added his third touchdown of the night with 46 seconds left in the quarter and Wright City ended the third winning 38-20.
The Wildcats did not let up in the fourth quarter and Dayton Humphreys rushed four yards into the endzone for a touchdown.
Winfield did score another touchdown with one second left, but Wright City ended the game with a 44-28 win to go 1-1.
