She faces felony charges for first-degree murder and armed criminal action in the Jan. 15 death of her husband, 30-year-old Nicholas Hunter.She remains held in the Warren County Jail.The fatal shooting occurred inside the couple’s home at 29907 Old Cotton Road, located between Wright City and Foristell. Ashley Hunter shot her husband seven times, according to a probable cause statement.Police said Ashley Hunter called 911 at 7:52 p.m. to report she had been involved in an argument with her husband and that she had shot him in the chest. Deputies found Nicholas Hunter dead on the living room floor upon arrival.The couple had been arguing and Ashley Hunter went upstairs and retrieved a handgun, according to police. She returned downstairs and shot her husband, the probable cause statement said.Ashley Hunter indicated the couple had been in a physical argument and she was transported to the hospital for evaluation following the shooting, police said. She was released that same night.The couple had been married for less than a year, according to police. Two children that were inside the home, ages 5 and 7, were not harmed. The kids belong to Ashley Hunter from a previous relationship, authorities reported.Ashley Hunter was arrested Jan. 22 on the same day criminal charges were filed and after running in front of a vehicle on Interstate 70. She was not seriously injured and was taken into custody after being released from the hospital.Ashley Hunter
