The political experts, from the professionals to the amateurs, are still trying to figure out why Hillary Clinton lost in the presidential race to Donald Trump. To us, an amateur, the reason is in plain grassroots viewing — Barack Obama. After eight years of Obamaism, the guys and gals who make up the majority of voters bought into the Trumpism, “Make America Great Again.”On the grassroots level, Obama was viewed as a weakling, a leader who was taking this country down the road to being second or third class in standing among nations. He was viewed by many voters as not understanding what made this nation great — love of freedoms, willingness to make the sacrifices necessary to sustain the republic, a spirit of independence, and an electorate that wanted a strong leader who could make the tough decisions in difficult times.Obama’s failure to deliver on the many promises he made resulted in a loss of the confidence voters had in him by giving him eight years in the White House.Voters didn’t want another four years of a downward slide of our basic American principles.Voters turned to Trump, who projected change, strength and decisiveness. It was a gamble to cast a vote for Trump, but as the only alternative to Hillary, they rolled the dice.We suspect that the election outcome will be analyzed for years to come. It really isn’t that bewildering!
