We’ve all heard or read about a number of shopping malls that have lost tenants and closed. We also have heard of the various uses they are being used for today.Monday’s The Wall Street Journal reported on a new use: Medical Centers.These malls also are being used for such developments as sports centers, bowling alleys, gyms, restaurants, trampoline parks and, yes, some retail.The malls can be attractive for a number of reasons, such as their locations, accessibility, large parking lots, and are well-built and attractive.Malls were overbuilt in this country and with the change in shopping habits, competition, too many retail stores, many selling the same merchandise, they all simply could not make it.Medical tenants for space in malls apparently are becoming more common.It appears many mall owners will find tenants for vacant space.
