A Wellsville woman has been charged with second-degree drug trafficking and two felony counts of possession of a controlled substance following a traffic stop in Warrenton Monday, Oct. 5.
Caitlin Church was stopped at approximately 10:23 p.m. near the 191 mile marker on Interstate 70 for driving 70 mph in a 55 mph construction zone, according to a probable cause statement. She did not have insurance and Warrenton police found her driver’s license was revoked, the statement notes.
Church “furnished two plastic baggies that were concealed on her person,” according to the statement, one of which contained approximately 50 capsules of a white powdery substance. The other allegedly contained more than 54 yellow and white capsules filled with a white powdery substance, along with 44 orange prescription-style tablets, and an additional plastic bag containing a white crystalline substance.
Church admitted the pills were fentanyl and Xanax, according to the statement, and the crystalline substance field-tested positive for methamphetamine.
In addition to the felony drug charges, Church was charged with misdemeanors including driving while revoked, operating a motor vehicle while knowing the owner has not maintained financial responsibility, and speeding 11-15 mph over the speed limit.
Church was initially being held without bond at the Warren County Jail, although her bond was later set at $50,000 cash only.
