Attorney General Chris Koster this week announced the sentencing last week of John Johnston of Wellsville for repeated sexual offenses against a minor. Montgomery County Circuit Judge Wesley Clay Dalton sentenced Johnston to 20 years in prison June 5 after Johnston pleaded guilty to four counts of felony statutory sodomy. The Missouri Attorney General’s Office assisted the Montgomery County Prosecutor in the case. “Sexual crimes involving minors are among the most heinous criminal acts we prosecute. Missouri is a safer place with Johnston in prison,” said Koster. Johnston was arrested and charged in September 2012 and pleaded guilty April 16, 2013. The judge imposed a sentence of 20 years in the Missouri Department of Corrections for each of the four counts, to run concurrently.
