WEEK ONE: Wright City Hosts Trinity

When: Friday, Aug. 30 Where: Wright City High School. Time: 7 p.m. Coaches: Wright City — Matt Brooks. Trinity — Leon Hite. Records: Wright City — 0-0. Trinity — 0-0. Last Year’s Meeting: Trinity 24, Wright City 13. Wright City was given many opportunities to win the contest, building a 10-0 lead after Trinity tossed five interceptions in the first half alone. Ben Randolph put the Wildcats on the board with a field goal, before Rico Blanks broke a 40-yard touchdown run. He finished the game with 188 yards on 21 carries. Wright City led 10-7 at halftime, after Trinity scored off an interception. Trinity found the end zone twice in the fourth quarter, escaping on its home field. Outlook: The Wildcats are expecting to face a spread option during Week One, with Trinity looking to throw the ball on the majority of its downs. Boasting a talented quarterback and receiver, they will look to exploit the secondary and should provide a challenge for Wildcats’ safety Steven Soltysiak, who excelled against Trinity last season. Defensively, Trinity will operate out of a 3-5-3, looking to blitz a lot. Focal Points: Coach Matt Brooks says his team must tackle in space and swarm to the football. A strong pass rush will also be essential this Friday. Offensively, the Wildcats are determined to sustain blitz pickup and blocks in order to effectively utilize their deep arsenal of backs and ends.

Wright City will host Trinity on Friday.
