Where: Warrenton High SchoolWhen: Friday, Sept. 11Time: 7 p.m.Coaches: St. Charles — Joe Liebner. Warrenton — Steve McDowell.Records: St. Charles — 2-1. Warrenton — 2-1.Last Year’s Meeting: Warrenton 14, St. Charles 6Warrenton improved to 4-0 behind a swarming defense that created four turnovers.Braydan Chmiel and Hunter Russell connected for a 30-yard touchdown on the opening drive. All scores for both sides came in the first half with Alec Tonioli’s 20-yard touchdown reception from Chmiel with four seconds left before halftime, providing room to breathe for the defense.Tonioli intercepted a pass, recovered a fumble and had four catches for 60 yards.Outlook: St. Charles is coming off a devastating loss to St. Charles West, which came back from a 20 point deficit to win 33-32 on a late touchdown run.Warrenton will have yet another tough offense to go up against as they will have to try to contain quarterback Josh Goldstein along with a backfield trio of Jordan Gladney, Justin Fredrick and Hunter Bornhop.Fredrick scored three times last week in the first quarter off a 56 and 21-yard pass from Goldstein and also recovered a fumble for a 35-yard touchdown. He has two interceptions and three fumble recoveries this season.Jaylin Williams is one of the top deep threat receivers in the area with nine catches for 269 yards and a touchdown.Braydan Chmiel will return to the starting quarterback position for Warrenton this week and enters with seven touchdown passes. The Bottom Line: This is a matchup of two very strong offenses and the final score should be an indication of that.Hunter Russell (372 receiving yards, six touchdowns) is currently emerging as one of the areas top wide receivers and will need to keep providing a boost for the Warrenton offense with deep connections with Chmiel through the air. Both sides like to throw the deep ball to open up their run game. Both secondaries will be challenged.Warrenton Warriors
