Wendell Webb, of Warrenton, toured during a week of events in the Washington, D.C., area this month in his role as national commandant of the Marine Corps League. The trip encompassed events from Nov. 4 to Nov. 11, Veterans Day.
Notable events included the 242nd Marine Corps Birthday Ball, a wreath laying at the World War II Memorial, and a wreath laying by Vice President Mike Pence at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
Webb sat on stage as part of the Veterans Day National Committee during a ceremony at the Memorial Amphitheater in Arlington, Va. He later returned to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier to lay a Marine Corps League wreath, along with Karen Aune, national president of the Marine Corps League Auxiliary.
Several events were hosted by U.S. Marine Corps Commandant Robert Neller. They also brought Webb into contact with 29th Marine Corps Commandant Alfred Gray Jr. and Secretary of Veterans Affairs David Shulkin.
Webb was accompanied to the various events by his wife, Carol Webb.
