Local coaches are eager to get back into the gym, but winter weather has kept their teams idle and even unable to practice. The Warrenton basketball teams have not played in 10 days and were scheduled to begin the Clopton Tournament on Monday. Wright City was able to squeeze in a pair of games last Friday at Bowling Green, while the Warrenton wrestling team made up the rescheduled Farmington Tournament on Saturday. Both schools have had to cancel a plethora of games since the heavy snow hit the area on Sunday. Three of the teams — Wright City boys and girls and Warrenton boys basketball teams — have seen their games in the Clopton Tournament shifted. All games that were supposed to be played on Monday and Tuesday were moved to a condensed scheduled on Wednesday. The sixth-seeded Wright City girls were set to play No. 3 Elsbery at 4 p.m., while the No. 5 Wright City boys met No. 4 Clopton later in the evening. The second-seeded Warrenton boys were pegged to play No. 7 Silex in one of the other night caps. The girls second-round games will be played on Thursday, while the boys second-round contests will take place on Friday. All trophy-round games will be played on Saturday, beginning with the girls consolation at 1 p.m. The girls championship will begin at 7 p.m., with the boys title contest at 8:30 p.m. Additionally, the Warrenton wrestling team was supposed to travel to Liberty High School on Monday, but that dual has been postponed. Next the Warriors will compete in the Zumwalt North Tournament on Saturday. The Warrenton girls basketball team was scheduled to play at Orchard Farm on Monday, but that game was moved to XX. The Liberty Christian boys and girls basketball teams were scheduled to play at home on Tuesday against Crosspoint, but that game was postponed and has not yet been rescheduled.
