Record Managing EditorWater and sewer rates in Warrenton will be going up by 5 percent for the second year in a row.The average monthly water and sewer bill for residential customers will increase by $2.12 under the proposed rate hike, while bills for commercial customers will go up $6.69.Residential and commercial customers outside the city limits will see their bills increase $3.96 and $31.67, respectively.The current average monthly bills are $42.37 (city residential), $133.73 (city commercial/industrial), $79.12 (outside residential) and $633.43 (outside commercial/industrial).The proposed water and sewer increases are of the 2015-2016 budget, which is expected to be approved later this month. The new fiscal year starts July 1.A public hearing about the proposed rate hike was held at the June 2 board of aldermen meeting. There were no comments from the public.Water ratesThe fee for residential water customers inside the city limits will increase from $5.96 to $6.26 for the first 1,000 gallons used. For every 1,000 gallons thereafter, the rate will go up from $3.84 to $4.04.The rate for residential customers outside the city limits will see their water fee rise from $18.95 to $19.90 for the first 1,000 gallons and from $8.12 to $8.53 for every 1,000 gallons used thereafter.For commercial and industrial customers inside the city limits, the water rate will go from $10.19 to $10.70 for the first 1,000 gallons and from $4.08 to $4.29 for every 1,000 gallons thereafter.Customers located outside the city limits will see their water fee increase from $19.94 to $20.94 for the first 1,000 gallons and from $8.59 to $9.02 for every 1,000 gallons thereafter.Sewer ratesFor residential sewer customers in Warrenton and Truesdale, the rate will increase from $9.74 to $10.23 for the first 1,000 gallons. For every 1,000 gallons used thereafter, the fee will go from $3.37 to $3.54.For commercial and industrial customers inside the city, the rate will jump from $10.35 to $10.87 for the first 1,000 gallons and from $3.48 to $3.66 for every 1,000 gallons thereafter.The rate will increase from $19.47 to $20.45 for residential customers located outside the city limits. For each additional 1,000 gallons used, the rate will go up from $6.73 to $7.07.Commercial and industrial customers outside the city will see their sewer rates increase from $20.69 to $21.73 for the first 1,000 gallons.
