Warrenton, Wright City compete in Washington Band Festival

The Wright City and Warrenton high schools bands both won third place in their respective classes in the Washington Band Festival parade competition.Wright City finished second in its class in the field competition prelims and took home awards for Outstanding Visual and Outstanding Percussion. Warrenton finished fifth in the field prelims.The festival took place this past Saturday. More than 2,000 students from 28 high schools competed. Some schools competed in both events, others only one.As the host, Washington High School performed in both, but was not judged.Parade WinnersThe parade results are as follows:Class E — Maries R-I, first place; New Haven, second; Louisiana R-2, third; and Russellville, fourth.New Haven High School won one placement award for Outstanding Marching.Maries won three awards for Outstanding Music, Outstanding Percussion and Outstanding Auxiliary.Class D — Bourbon, first place; Hartville, second; and Valley Park, third.Valley Park won for Outstanding Music and Bourbon won for Outstanding Marching.Hartville won two awards for Outstanding Percussion and Outstanding Auxiliary.Class C — Clever, first place; Fatima, second; and Hermann, third.Hermann won two awards for Outstanding Music and Outstanding Percussion.The Outstanding Marching and Outstanding Auxiliary awards went to Clever.Class B — Potosi, first place; St. Francis Borgia Regional, second; Wright City, third; and Cuba, fourth.Borgia won the Outstanding Music award and Potosi went home with the Outstanding Percussion award.Cuba won two awards for Outstanding Marching and Outstanding Auxiliary.Class A — Waynesville, first place; Troy Buchanan, second; and Warrenton, third.Waynesville won two awards for Outstanding Music and Outstanding Auxiliary.The Outstanding Marching and Outstanding Percussion awards went to Troy.Field ResultsIn the field competition, bands competed in four classes. Classes were determined by the enrollment of the school in grades nine-12.Again this year, the field competition included a preliminary performance with bands competing against schools of similar size enrollments.The winner of each class plus the next five highest scoring bands, regardless of class, performed in the finals.The results of preliminary field competition are as follows:Class D — Hermann, first place; Clopton, second; and North Callaway, third.Hermann also won for Outstanding Music, Visual, Auxiliary and Percussion.Class C — St. Francis Borgia Regional, first place; Wright City, second; and St. Charles West, third.St. Francis Borgia won for Outstanding Music and Outstanding Auxiliary.Wright City went home with the Outstanding Visual and Outstanding Percussion awards.Class B — Windsor, first place; Union, second; Potosi, third; Farmington, fourth; and Warrenton, fifith.Potosi won for Outstanding Music and Union won for Outstanding Auxiliary.Windsor won two awards for Outstanding Visual and Outstanding Percussion.Class A — Rolla, first place; Troy, second; Waynesville, third; Wentzville Liberty, fourth; and Parkway West, fifth.Rolla won all four awards for Outstanding Music, Visual, Auxiliary and Percussion.The sweepstakes awards in the preliminary competition went to Troy.The results of the finals are as follows:Rolla, first place; Troy, second; Windsor, third; Potosi, fourth; Union, fifth; Waynesville, sixth; and Hermann, seventh.Rolla again won all four placement awards for Outstanding Music, Visual, Auxiliary and Percussion.St. Francis Borgia Regional High School did not compete in the field finals due to Homecoming.Marching band
