A Warrenton woman died Monday evening following a collision with a tractor-trailer while traveling eastbound on Interstate 70.Personnel with St. Charles County pronounced Lauren Smith, 29, of Warrenton, dead at the scene just before 7 p.m. near Wentzville.According to a report by Missouri Highway Patrol Trooper E.J. Graslie, the collision occurred when a Canadian commercial truck driver, David J. Strembesky, 55, of Kelowna, British Columbia, attempted to maneuver his 2014 Peterbilt 388 tractor-trailer across multiple lanes on I-70 after missing his exit. While making several lane changes in an attempt to exit I-70, Strembesky eventually crossed into Smith’s lane. Despite her attempts to quickly bring her 2013 Lincoln MTK SUV to a stop, Smith struck the back of Strembesky’s truck. Emergency personnel pronounced her dead at 6:41 p.m.The highway patrol arrested Strembesky for careless and imprudent driving, briefly holding him inside the Wentzville Police Department until his release.Collision
