Warrenton volleyball remains undefeated after late rally

By Patrick MacCoonRecord Sports EditorSt. Clair nearly handed Warrenton it's first loss of the volleyball season, but couldn't contain senior Morgan Boesel in the most crucial moments of the match.The Warriors outside hitter accounted for three points in a 5-0 rally to win the decisive set 25-22.Boesel tallied five of her game-high 12 kills in the third set.Kristen McDowell's squad won the first set, 25-10, while dropping the second, 25-17.The victory improved Warrenton to 4-0 and was just its second match to have lasted there sets this season.Sophomore Sabrina McRoberts finished with seven kills.Seniors Ellie Stapleton and Chyanne Schwerdt each had two solo blocks apiece. Schwerdt provided a crucial rejection to key the 5-0 run to seal the victory for the Warriors.Other key notable performances for Warrenton were from senior Anna Sutherland (three aces) and junior Alex Buechner (19 digs).Junior Allison May, McRoberts and Boesel each had two aces apiece.The Warriors will play return to action Tuesday with a road match against Fort Zumwalt East.JV remains undefeatedWarrenton's junior varsity squad, which is led by Nikki Cross, improved to 8-0 on Monday after its win before the varsity match.They also won the Montgomery County Tournament this past weekend.

Morgan Boesel finished with 12 kills in a three set victory over St. Clair on Monday night. Warrenton improved to 4-0 on the season.
