Warrenton volleyball earns back-to-back victories while Warrenton golf, Wright City baseball roll

Warrenton volleyball earns back-to-back victories while Warrenton golf, Wright City baseball roll

On Tuesday, the Warrenton boys' volleyball team picked up right where it left off.

After earning the team’s first win of the season on April 2, the Warriors (2-3) traveled to Fort Zumwalt South and earned the 21-25, 25-17, 25-23, 25-19 win.

Teegan Williams had a big day, leading Warrenton with 20 kills, while Lucas Payne added 12 and Kaleb Lauck six.

Lauck and Matthew Faubion each tallied a pair of blocks in the victory. Faubion also added 37 assists in the win.

Warrenton will next play host to Hickman at 5:30 p.m. today.

Also on Tuesday …

WRIGHT CITY BASEBALL 17, VAN-FAR 0 (4 INN.) – The Wright City baseball team was dominant from start to finish on the road.

The Wildcats (6-4) scored six runs in the top of the first inning and never looked back in the teams’ Eastern Missouri Conference game.

Kolby Bass drove in four runs while Leighton McDonald added three RBI as each also tallied a double in the win.

As a team, Wright City stole six bases, with Carter Strunk accounting for three of those.

Ben Niemeyer tossed four innings of one-hit baseball to earn the victory.

The Wildcats will return to the diamond at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday to play host to the St. Louis Patriots.

ST. CHARLES WEST BASEBALL 6, WARRENTON 4 – A strong response from the Warrenton baseball team proved to be not enough in a GAC North Conference game with St. Charles West at home.

Warrenton (5-4) turned a 2-0 deficit into a 3-2 lead in the third inning on a Ric Standley RBI walk and RBI sacrifice flies from Carter Martin and Jake Kirkpatrick.

West responded with four runs, but in the bottom of the fourth, a Mason Haas single scored pinch runner Deadrick Forrest to round out the scoring.

Martin suffered the loss.

WARRENTON GOLF 159, WINFIELD 203 – Gavin Thompson led a strong team effort with a stellar round of 35 as Warrenton won the battle of Warriors.

Warrenton will next take to the links for a conference match against Orchard Farm on Thursday.
