The top three golfers for Warrenton collected some nice hardware at the GAC North Conference tournament at Country Lake Golf Club on Tuesday.
Juniors Gavin Thompson, Gavin Solari and sophomore Luke Bolm finished the tournament in seventh, eighth and 14th places, respectively.
Not only did each medal, but they also earned all-conference honors for their play, as their strong showing will lead into the Class 4 District 2 tournament at the Falls in O’Fallon.
“It was definitely nice to fulfill one of my goals for the season,” said Thompson, who shot 79 to finish seventh and earn not only a medal but a GACN first-team all-conference spot. “I played well overall. I left a few shots out there. I just need to get things cleaned up before Friday.”
Thompson birdied holes No. 1 and 10 and added eight pars during the round.
Right on his heels was Solari, who tallied an 81. He birdied the par-4 No. 4 and added seven pars.
“The round was going well until I hit a little slump with all the rain,” Solari said. “I got it figured out and ended with a decent round. It feels great because being all-conference was a goal I set at the beginning of the season.”
Lastly, Bolm carded an 85 with seven pars on the front nine and two more on the back nine.
Warrenton finished fourth, as a team, with a collective score of 334.
