Trailing by two runs after four innings, Warrenton plated five runs in the next frame and held on in a 7-3 victory over county rival Wright City Friday.
The Warriors pounded out 11 hits, led by Hailey Roberts who went 3 for 3 at the plate with a home run and had three RBIs and scored twice. Kaylin Reynolds and Kathryn McChristy also contributed two hits, with Reynolds recording two RBIs. Eight players had at least one hit for Warrenton (7-3).
McChristy pitched 3.1 innings for the win. She gave up one hit, while striking out six and walking one. Kaylin Haas pitched the final 3.2 innings.
For Wright City (3-6), Allexus Donnelly, Adison Fast and Abigail Vossen each had hits and scored one run apiece. Abby Raines and Emma Wegrzyn collected RBIs in the loss.
On the mound, Kendall Hannah suffered the loss. She pitched the first 4.2 innings, giving up five earned runs. She struck out one and walked four. Madison Hamlett followed in relief and gave up two earned runs in 1.1 innings.
The win was the fourth straight for Warrenton, which had shut out its previous three opponents (St. Dominic, Winfield and St. Charles West) behind the pitching of McChristy. The right-hander combined to strike out 34 in the three games, including 16 against Winfield.
She also was backed by a strong offense. Warrenton collected 20 hits in the St. Dominic game with Kennady Estes having a team-high four hits and Reynolds knocking in four. Avery Tucker had a team-high three hits in the Winfield contest and Kylie Witthuas, Reynolds and Roberts had two RBIs apiece in the St. Charles West win.
Earlier in the week, Wright City defeated Louisiana 130 on Sept. 15 and lost to Silex 10-8. Raines and Hannah each had three hits and three RBIs to lead an 18-hit attack in the Louisiana game. Hamlett allowed only one hit and struck out 10 in the complete-game win. In the loss to Silex, Tristen Head had three hits, two runs and two RBIs.
