The Warrenton girls' soccer team turned in a dominant performance on Monday.
Playing at home, Warrenton rolled to a 6-0 win over Mexico.
Warrenton (1-4) was led by four goals and a pair of assists from sophomore Emory Martinez. Also making their way onto the scoresheet were senior Autumn Heard with one goal and one assist, and senior Emma Duncan with a goal.
Freshman Kielyn Mattison earned the shutout in goal for the Warriors.
Warriors Coach Courtney Nenninger praised the team for its effort.
“It was a good game with good energy,” Nenninger said. “We can take that into our next game.”
That next game will be at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, when Warrenton hosts St. Charles West.
BOLM CELEBRATES BIRTHDAY WITH MEDAL – Warrenton sophomore golfer Luke Bolm had a big day on Monday.
Not only did he have a birthday, but he celebrated it by earning a medal at the Big Creek Stableford hosted by Francis Howell North at the Country Lake Golf Course.
Bolm carded a 77, earning 32 points under the Stableford scoring system, earning him 15th place and a medal.
Buoyed by Bolm, Warrenton took seventh place out of the 16 teams competing at the event.
The Warriors will return to the links for the 50th edition of the Warrenton Invitational, which is scheduled for Wednesday.
VOLLEYBALL WIN STREAK ENDS – The four-game hot streak the Warrenton boys volleyball team was enjoying came to a screeching halt on Monday.
Warrenton fell in three games to the co-op team of Columbia Battle and Father Tolton by scores of 25-21, 25-21, 25-23.
Senior Teegan Williams led Warrenton with 13 kills while sophomore setter Matthew Faubion recorded 31 assists.
Senior middle hitter Kaleb Lauck also led Warrenton (4-4) with a trio of blocks.
Warrenton will head to Fort Zumwalt North (9-4-1) for a game at 5 p.m. tonight.
BUSY TUESDAY ON ATHLETIC CALENDARS – In addition to Warrenton boys’ volleyball, both Warren County baseball teams are in action.
Wright City will host Eastern Missouri Conference rival Louisiana at 4:30 p.m., while Warrenton will travel to GAC conference rival Holt at 4:15 p.m.
Wright City girls soccer will also welcome Elsberry at 5:45 p.m.
Warrenton track runs at Union at 4 p.m., and stunt travels to Fort Zumwalt South at 5 p.m.
